Steph Curry’s Mouthpiece is Starting to Cost Him

What things do you think of when you hear the word “useless?” A rain jacket on a sunny day, useless. Cream cheese on a bagel, useless. Pineapples on pizza, useless. Pouring the milk before putting the cereal on in the bowl, useless. You get my point. I don’t think any of those things I just said are as useless as Steph Curry’s mouthpiece. A mouthpiece is supposed to stay in your mouth and cover your teeth, to prevent injury. In the Warriors comeback against the Grizzlies the other night (Steph was going off.) He was literally chewing his mouthpiece. That’s like wearing your sneakers with your shoes untied (I do this.) It is literally useless, and it’s starting to cost him.

How It Started

After doing some research (I did no research) it appears the mouthpiece chewing started at the free throw line. I get this, I don’t hate it. Still seems useless to me, but maybe it became part of his routine. Nobody coming at him, no risk of losing a tooth, other players remove their goggles at the line, I get it. But what the antics have become, why even wear a mouthpiece. I mean just look at these 4th quarter highlights from the other night, Steph is literally chewing his mouthpiece MID GAME! Not the free throw line, MID Comeback!

Did you see it? Look real hard, its right there!

Steph was literally going off while chewing his mouthpiece. There is literally no point for him to be wearing one. If he wants to chew something, why doesn’t he chew gum. I’m sure the mint flavor is better than the taste of his saliva. Steph is going to keep doing this until the mouthpiece accidentally hits him in the eye mid game, and you know who’s going to be laughing then? This guy.

IT STARTING TO COST HIM

Steph is lucky his team bailed him out, because his useless mouthpiece ended up getting him thrown out of the game. Steph has only been ejected three (3) times in his career, and all three (3) have been due to him throwing his mouthpiece.

Some people are starting to ask questions like “is the mouthpiece becoming a problem?” “Can Steph control his temper with his mouthpiece during the game?” “Is it sanitary for him to keep grabbing it, touching his saliva, and then keep touching the ball that other players are using?” It’s becoming a genuine concern ladies and gentlemen. Even though I hate the Warriors, I don’t want to see one of the games greats tarnish his career this way. I’m starting to wonder if Steph even likes having a mouthpiece at all. I have a feeling this will be one of the worlds next great conspiracy theories in years to come.

I’ll tell you one thing, this man has no concern for messing his teeth up, or he would wear his mouthpiece correctly. Can you imagine how funny it would be if he was chewing his mouthpiece and got hit in the mouth and lost a tooth? You know who will be laughing then? This guy again.

A WORD OF THE WISE

Steph, just lose the mouthpiece. You are cooking without it, and clearly do not need it. You shouldn’t be worried about getting hit in the mouth, nobody can get close enough to breathe on you without it being a foul. Just like how Kobe and Jordan moved on from their hair and got the baldy, it’s time for you to move on from the mouthpiece. I doubt you will though, because you’re a big baby sucking on his grown-up pacifier. Grow up Steph, kids look up to you. (If anyone is wondering, he is literally doing the same thing in their game against the Raptors as I am writing this.) He’s a mouth piece chewing addict, and it’s only a matter of time before it cost him again.
