March Sadness Strikes Again… As Usual

Well, everyone, the best sports weekend of the year has officially come to an end, and I for one am sad. I’m sure you all are too, but I think today we can all be a little more like Rick Pitino, (absolutely wild statement by me, but this is what I mean.)

Even when March Madness becomes March Sadness (it does for everyone every year. It just happens to come faster for some more than others, just like Rick Pitino.) This blog is simply going to be about how terrible I am at picking brackets. This blog is also going to be about how terrible I am at gambling. The mixture of both does not make for a good first weekend of March Madness but that’s okay and do you know why?

MY CHAMPION GOT BOUNCED ON DAY 1

Now to be clear, this is a joint bracket with my brother so 75% of the blame is his since he watches college basketball. Also, to be clear, I have two other brackets that I have Houston winning in (also, also, to be clear I am doing horrendously even with my champion still in it in those brackets.) I do not watch College basketball that much in the regular season, so I just kind of wing it every year around tournament time. Every year I can’t even make educated guesses correctly. To put it into perspective, my girlfriend did a bracket this year, and she is doing lightyears better than me. (She watches no college basketball.) I tried not to give her too much advice since I do so poorly but I gave her a few pointers to put her in the right direction. She’d be doing better without those pointers. I told her Purdue would win at least one game.

But yeah, it’s tough to stay motivated when your champion loses on day 1. I should’ve known Arizona was a bad pick when all my brother’s friends said it was a good pick. I’ve met those kids…

But, do you know what’s worse than losing your champion on day 1? Losing your champion on day 1 and day 2. That’s right, my brother lost with Arizona, and then this guy picked Purdue! Purdue that everyone knew would lose early! The Purdue that just gave a 16 seed their second win in tournament history ever! He chose that Purdue to win it all!

THIS BLOG IS OFF THE RAILS, JUST LIKE MY BRACKET!

I don’t know where this blog is going, or where it’s been. Basically, even though I flamed my brother for his two championship picks, I am doing far worse in the brackets, and in my bets, (the only way I would’ve been colder is if I was in Antarctica.) But it still made for an amazing week of sports. I hope the Sweet 16 will be just as exciting but it probably won’t be.  There’s just something magical about that first weekend…

P.S.

Here are my other terrible brackets.
