The New York Mets (Division Rivals) Are Going To The World Series

Pain.

     Yes, Mets fans, another NL East team has made the world series for the second year in a row. A team that struggled down the stretch and literally almost missed the post season now has a chance to bring the NL East it’s second world series in just as many years. It isn’t the 1st best team in the division, nor the 2nd best. Instead, it is the 3rd best team in the division, who never even lead the division at any point in the 2022 season! (I am not fact checking this. I am going off my gut which is always right. If they did lead the division, it must’ve been April for a day so that does not count.) Absolutely Brutal. I tweeted this out almost a year ago now and it still stands. Nothing has changed.

     I thought this year would be our turn but sadly I was mistaken. As much as things change, “These Mets” still remain the same. I still am hanging the “These Mets” towel from the Wild Card game in my room because what an experience that was. I went to Game 2 (the only game the Mets won) and it was absolutely electric. Clearly me being there gave them the spark they needed to win, even though they almost blew it in the 9th in typical Mets fashion and made every fan sweat more than a long night on the bowl after taco bell (you know what I’m talking about.) But if I would’ve known they needed me specifically in attendance to get the job done I would’ve been there for all 3 games.

There are a lot of things that suck about the Phillies winning;

     But do you want to know what the worst part about the Phillies winning is? They keep celebrating to a fucking banger of a song! The Tiesto Remix of Calum Scotts Dancing On My Own is stupendous. (Yes I use Apple Music, it’s the superior streaming service.) (It’s not the superior streaming service but I don’t feel like redownloading all the music I have so far so I’m trapped.)

     Fun fact this song is actually written about a guy. That’s a pretty fitting celebration song for the team from the city of brotherly love (ayo?) Absolutely blew my mind when I found that out for the first time. It shouldn’t have because they lyrics are “I’m in the corner watching you kiss her.” But was I going to stop listening to it after I found that out? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I played it more! With the volume louder! AROUND THE HOMIES! (pause) HELL YEAH!

     Alright, we’ve gotten off the rails in this blog (just like the Mets season) but let’s wrap it up. It sucks seeing another team in our division have a chance at a World Series. Will our time ever come? I’m not sure. We have a lot of free agents including the best pitcher in baseball (Jacob DeGrom.) The Mets may look completely different next year and who know what will happen. All I know is I cannot watch the Phillies win the world series. It just can’t happen. My only saving grace is the Astros sending the Yankees to Cancun to join the Mets and crushing the Phillies in the world series. No, I will not be rooting for the Yankees because they are a NY team. If you do that, you’re more confused than me when I found out I was singing a song about taking a guy home. If you root for both teams in your city you should be punished by a crime no less than life behind bars. If the Yankees somehow come back to beat the Astros (don’t get your hopes up Yankees fans there’s only one team that blew a 3-0 lead in MLB history…), and if it’s a Yankees vs Phillies world series…… here’s an accurate video for that scenario.
