WOW! What a turn of events from The Clauses. The first three episodes were okay at best, but we needed more. If you have not seen the first three episodes, don’t worry we reviewed them already; CLICK HERE. But talk about a finish! Episodes 4, 5, and 6 truly saved the show in my eyes. This is a good thing too, considering it’s been renewed for season 2! And if season 2 is anything like the last three episodes, then we have something to look forward to next Christmas season besides the presents! It’s time to review the second half of The Clauses starting now! (That felt like when we used to watch cartoons and one of the characters would say “tune in to an all-new episode right now)
EPISODE 4

This gif essentially summarizes episode 4. Kumar (Simon the new Santa) is fucking up BIG TIME! This clown loses the jacket on the first day. The essential thing he needs to be Santa he loses! (The coat actually leaves him which I called!) Our new best friend Noelle the Elf can’t take anymore Christmas destruction so he writes a note and leaves to go get Scott Calvin back! And Kumar rips up the note! Is that something the real Santa would do? I don’t think so! He even fires Betty the head elf! Santa Clause? More like Santa Crybaby! We find out the real reason the elves are not showing up to work, because they are DISSAPPEARING due to no Christmas spirit! (I called this as well by the way.)
Out of the North Pole the Calvin’s are living normal lives in Chicago. We find out Scott’s daughter is literally a horse girl (she doesn’t run like a horse but she can talk to them.) Scott’s having a tough time not being Santa which we all knew he would. It’s tough when you aren’t the man, that’s something I’ll never know though. Scott’s looking to finally spend Christmas with his family, when they are frozen in time and a hand appears on his shoulder…
EPISODE 5

The BEST EPISODE of the entire show. This episode was absolutely fire, if you don’t want to watch any of the other episodes just watch this one. The hand at the end of ep. 4 was Bernard’s! We haven’t seen this head elf since the 2nd movie! Now if you were on twitter at all between November and December you know this was coming but it was still awesome. This episode is called “The Yuleverse.” Bernard takes Scott through a multiverse of different Santa’s all the way back to Saint Nick! (I feel like everything has a multiverse nowadays. What are the higher ups trying to tell us? There are other universe’s out there with other us’? Makes you wonder.)
We find out about Scott as a child and how he wanted to give gifts to others. He was truly meant to be Santa, and he left too soon! Not to mention his kid’s got powers from being in the North pole. Cal can see the portals Santa rides his sleigh through, and his daughter made a horse fly (ha get it?) The horse flying was the worst part of the episode though.
EPISODE 6

Not as good as episode five, but a pretty good finale. Simon (Kumar) brings back the evil soldiers from the 2nd Santa Clause movie to stop the Calvin’s. (Mrs. Clause kicks their asses.) Cal talks to the drones and makes them have emotion which I did find funny. Some may not, but I did and that’s all that matters in the grand scheme of things. The Santa jacket returns and Cal can sense its presence (he’s going to take over as Santa we all know this.) Simon’s daughter Grace gives him the snow globe showing her favorite Christmas memory (just him being her dad.) He turns out not to be a bad guy, the elves return, and Scott becomes Santa again and saves Christmas by gifting everyone their snow globe memories with his family spending Christmas in the sleigh with him for the first time ever. The End!
FINAL RATING: 8.1
This rating may be a little high, but this season is all about giving, so that’s the score I’ll give. The theme song for season two needs a change this one was not good. I also hated the Christmas witch; she served no purpose at all in any of the episodes. Noelle the elf really grew on me throughout the season, I hope he’s back for season two. Cal didn’t wipe his girlfriend’s memory after he came down her chimney so I’m sure that will backfire in season 2. We also didn’t get much of a goodbye from Simon or Grace which leads me to believe they’ll be back as well.
Is this a show that people wanted? I’m not sure. But as they said in the show “sometimes the best things are the ones you didn’t ask for.” I’m looking forward to season two next Christmas because Tim Allen is a fantastic Santa Clause. He’s back in the North Pole where he belongs.
